Exam Facts & Test-Day Game Plan

Part 107 exam basics

  • Format: 60 multiple-choice questions

  • Time: 120 minutes

  • Score to pass: 70%

  • Where: FAA/PSI testing center

  • Retakes: Allowed (you pay the fee again)

What to bring

  • Government-issued photo ID (name must match your PSI/IACRA accounts)

  • Optional: simple non-programmable calculator. Center provides scratch paper & pencil.

  • No phone, smartwatch, or reference materials in the testing room.

Fees & scheduling

  • Testing fee is paid to PSI at scheduling (typical range ≈ $175).

  • Arrive 15 minutes early for check-in.

Smart test strategy

  1. First pass: Answer what you know instantly; skip the rest.

  2. Second pass: Work the marked questions; eliminate obviously wrong answers.

  3. Final pass: Guess if needed—there’s no penalty for guessing.

  4. Use the full time. Re-read any question you flagged for wording traps.

After you pass

  • You’ll see your AKTR report with your score and topic codes.

  • Log into IACRA to finish your application for the certificate.

  • You’ll get a temporary certificate first; a permanent plastic card follows by mail.
